In the collection container it seemed to munch on some hydroids (photos 4-7).

Description

Well-drained steep slopes of Tyaughton creek meadows. Rare here, seen only at two localities along the trail, which passes through a lot of this habitat. Same population as https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/89017501, from a year prior. Collected.

2 stigmas, androgynous spikes, rhizomatous. 600mm tall, peris 3.5mm, with a 1mm beak. Spikes 20-30mm long.

Description

Seemed to key that way in Doyle & Stottler, at least, assuming this is even Riccia. Many growing in the drying mud to the west of Hidden Pond, seemed quite affixed to the substrate, no sign of sporophytes that I could see.

Description

Swept from conifers, likely spruce (white/engelmann) or Abies lasiocarpa, fairly common in this area off of these conifers, and seen also one at Blackwater lake on 06/20.

Ground color black, pubescence with mixed white and orange hairs, so keys to U. granulosum, but not confident enough to be sure (not listed here: http://www.canacoll.org/Coleo/Checklist/PDF%20files/PTINIDAE.pdf).

Culm 90, spike 10, wispy involute leaves 90 long 1 wide strongly folded. Round peri 4 long 2.5 wide, beak 0.5, wings 0.75 wide. Stigmas 3.

Among boulders near an alpine tarn.

Weird sedge. Scales are much longer than the perigynia and awned. It stood out among the C. nigricans and C. micropoda seen frequently in the area. Not sure..

Ultramafic rock complex. Tried the FNA key, got to either Sect. Rubricaules or Sect. Pensylvanicae, but nothing jumped out at me. Need to revisit. Subpinnate leaves are interesting.

6mm, found under douglas fir bark in old growth forest. Having a hard time figuring this one out. Resembles Silvanidae / Cucujidae but none of the options seem to have a sufficiently elongated pronotum with the parallel depressions. Very curious beetle.

Description

Found in tundra (mountain top).
Perennial herb that forms a cushion (4.3x2.6 cm).
Leaves: Basal and odd*pinnately compound (Length ca. 1.5 cm). Soft white hair on upper surface- less hairy bellow.
Leaflets more oblong than elliptic. Margins are rolled downward to underside. Up to ca. 4- 5 mm long.
*Inflorescence
pea-like flowers. Corollas purple, up to 0.8-0.9 mm long. Calyces bell-shaped with mostly appressed dark hairs, tube up to 5-6 mm long.
