This really looks like the pictures on iNat to me, and matches the description in the field guide, but the field guide also states that A. tomentosa "has been reported in Georgia" and to look for it "near Augusta" which this was definitely not. So perhaps I am wrong.
In case this is actually rare, I have changed the location to something less precise - county level. Since I botanized at several sandhills spots on this date, I don't think this entry will lead someone with bad intent to the site of this plant.
