"MT" was first observed again since his last recorded observation on a random, intermittent walking survey of eight (8) monitored sights on July 2, 2024. This is a very exciting 2nd chance to observe MT this year. In this image, MT is nectaring on Waltheria indica, also referred to as "Hierba Del Soldado" in A. Richardson's & K. King's book, "Plants of Deep South Texas," page 406. This plant is in the Sterculiaceae family. For video footage of MT nectaring, hovering, and displaying territoriality behavior, you may visit the following YouTube Channel where MT has its own Playlist: El Mesteno Ranch and Arboretum. You may also find more information about MT on the following website: elmestenoranch.com.
These media sites will be continuted to be updated, as I am still observing MT at this time. Thank you for your time.
