What

Hairy Leg Bell (Galerina vittiformis)

Observer

Date

Description

Edited..
On a mossy log, near the creek on a bog.
Cap 1.5 cm, yellow brown, orange brown, darker center, barely striate, lighter in between the ribs. Gills distant, adnexed and broad. Stipe, white at first, later pruinose on top, darker below. Veil, unseeing, if one present. No particular smells.
Spores rough, inequilateral, ellipsoid, dextrinoid (8.1-9.4) x (5-6), Q= 1.58. Basidia large (40-50) x (6-12); 4 spored, maybe some 2 spored; Cheilocystidia abundant, up to (50x16) variable shapes, neck (3-6) ventricose-subcapitate mostly; some other projections observed.
Initially I ignored G. vittiformis because the length of the spores. After Douglas comments below, suggesting the id, and after reviewing "A Monograph on the Genus Galerina Earle", I realized that some of the variations on this species have spore sizes that are a match to my meassurements. Best tentative match Galerina vittiformis var vittiformis f. tetraspora.
