Saved from paddling pool. It did survive and fly away after it dried out its wings. Perhaps 5mm long, long body, striped.
Looked like it was laying eggs in the sand. Would walk a bit, plug its abdomen in the sand and walk a bit again
One year they were there between November and February. Other years they were found over a much shorter time period. They would often sit under Adenanthos cygnorum shrubs and take off and buzz us to try and scare us away. I couldn’t see anything they were protecting. Maybe it was their territory.
