Milkcaps

Milkcaps are a species of gilled mushrooms that ooze a white "milk" when damaged. Though edible, the milkcap is not recommended to be eaten report that there is mild digestive discomfort because of a distinctly hot "peppery" spice that it has. When eaten raw, the mushroom is known to be an irritant rather than poisonous. In Eastern Europe, the milkcap is often dried and ground to a powder used sparingly as a spice.
