San Diego is the southwestern-most county in California. With Mexico along its southern border, much of its coastline is heavily developed but there are also several fairly expansive coastal marshes along with miles of intensely used sandy beaches. Inland from the developed regions are extensive areas of rocky, chaparral-covered foothills which then lead into into the Cuyamaca and Laguna Mountains. The eastern third of the county consists predominately of sparsely populated Colorado and to a much lesser degree, Sonoran deserts. This list consists of all of the plants, animals, and other wildlife I have photographically documented in the county.
