Growing up in the santa cruz mountains, playing in the surf, in the hills, on the peaks, and in the hollows. after a bit you just start to recognize plants and animals, patterns and habits, you dont have a name for these things yet, but after a while you do start to learn their names too, as well their stripes and strategies. i love the ecosystems i am surrounded with, all over northern california, including here in the bay area as well, that wild "concrete jungle" where homo sapiens chase their tails and forever try to outrun their own ephemerality... what a wild animal WE are.
