10/02/21 Flora (& fungi, insects) survey: Yellingbo

Notes from: a Friends of the Helmeted Honeyeater hosted citizen science event.
We were back at Jeanne Wilcox Reserve for a late summer survey, concentrating on an area we haven't explored. For 2 people, iNat was all new. It was great to have a new person join us, Mardi, and someone who hasn't been to one of these types of surveys before, Sandra. With the help of the iNaturalist community, we've identified a new species to us and we're all learning. Thank you! A 'line' search allowed us to find a small colony of Large Tongue-orchid's that aren't (yet) flowering. Huge thanks to Mardi and Eliza for pulling out and bagging a small colony of flowering Ragwort. Brilliant!! A lot less butterflies on the wing compared with last month. Sandra summed up our morning nicely. Thank you Sandra!!
