Tx. I know nothing about this genus. What are the distinguishing features one needs to photograph....?

Ideally, a macro picture of the flower open (longitudinally), in order to see the anthers and carpel position (with size), as well as a picture from the side in order to see the calyx shape and size. in some instance, leaves shape and they disposition on the stems are also important. Nevertheless it is a difficult genus, with a lot of intraspecific variation.... pfff... :-) have a nice day, yours

This is not Sebaea exacoides (stamens are exserted, while they should be inserted; the calyx shape and size do not match, the apical stigma is not rounded and divided as in S. exacoides). Unfortunately, I am a bit short to make a determination the flower looks like S. sulphurea. Was it growing in shade? (the numbers of leaves and their shape do not really match the one of S. sulphurea)

Partial shade - they were closed on our walk west, only opened around noon. How about S. aurea? My initial id was just based on suggested by iNat - now able to see what other ones have been seen close-by. S. sulphurea does not come up for the area.

Could be S. griesbachiana or an hybrid but the shape and size of the stigmas do not plead for it (neither S. scabra).
In all cases it is not S. aurea which is tetramerous and much more tinyer (with a less developed calyx). Did you collect it? does the calyx turn out sulphur on drying?

not S. exacoides!
Stamens are exserted (they are inserted in the corolla tube for S. exacoides). more photography would be helpful. Maybe S. pentendra?
have a nice day,
J.
