Added when CoF split the species into multiple following recent genetic work. Much of the native range and even more so the native range it is not clear which species is present. While technically morphologically distinguishable, most photos will not show enough. Having the complex will allow for an accurate ID that distinguishes from other Micropterus while still expressing the uncertaonty regarding the specific identification or mixed-lineage status of many areas.
