I tried to pick up one of these little beasties a couple of years ago when it was singing in my outside covered porch area and I got a blood letting bite for my troubles. I vaguely recall some discussion on this site a while back about this being an Australian species.

Paua slug (Schizoglossa sp.) photographed at Dansey Reserve. There were about 8 of them on the side of a damp gully. Majority seemed to be sitting on mahoe logs.

I do not know if my image and sound go together. I want to know what is making the high pitched sound in the foreground? There are regular crickets calling in the background.
This cricket looked a bit different to the usual black field cricket (smaller and lighter in colour with red knees) maybe it was making the sound?

Large spider found in silk tunnel under fallen branch in small patch of rimu-kauri forest. Looks a bit like Porrhothele antipodiana, but the carapace is darker than other photos I've seen of it.
