Wooded Island/Bobolink Meadow area. I found 3-4 crows mobbing something in the pines at Bobolink Meadow. Though they had been mobbing the Red-tailed Hawk near by a few minutes before, I thought it unlikely that the hawk would hide in the pines and suspected an owl. I slowly made my way to the back/east side of the pines where it is more open, being careful not to flush the bird or crows. I couldn't see anything. The crows briefly flew to the woods, then came back and the Great Horned Owl flushed to a tree in the woods where I was able to get photos. The crows were rather bold, as can be seen in the photos, and the owl flew towards Wooded Island and landed in the top of one of the tallest trees. Not wise! Every crow within cawing distance flew in to harass it! When I left there were at least 29 crows surrounding it.
