Easy to see why the Rosy Maple moth has evolved to look like the samaras (winged fruit) of a maple tree. Adaptation at its best.
Moths came to the lights, and I threw in the samaras that had just fallen from a nearby maple.

a swarm of hundreds of individuals was seen crossing a forest trail; the morphology and swarming behavior agrees with Z. neptunus (see Wesener and Schutte 2010, https://www.ajol.info/index.php/mcd/article/view/63137)
I think he accidentally took a ride, because he was on top of the car as soon as we got out. Poor dear.
