Seen in early morning, scampering about on a rock retaining wall. She - I think it's a she - the pouch can be made out - had a nest not far away with at least one young one in it (made in an old stove which was standing on a verandah).

Approx 13mm - 15mm in body length. Very jerky movements, almost like a stop animation. One of the largest jumping spiders I've ever seen.

At least 3 of these seen. Quite small, less than 3mm long. At one stage I had a male Maratus pavonis only a few cm from this specimen and it looked big in comparison. And while they certainly jumped, they seemed to prefer walking about, often sheltering underneath stones before briefly moving about.
