Chia (Salvia columbariae) Native, annual, low growing plant of the Sage family usually found in dry disturbed sites, coastal sage scrub, and in the desert. Leaf blades are oblong-ovate, not woolly, pinnately dissected, lobes irregularly rounded, minutely bristly, and appear warty. Inflorescence is a round head on leafless stem, with many deep blue flowers. Peak bloom time: March-June.
