At Wildcat Peak, a flock of WTSWs were circling me while I was jogging around the rock structure at the top. All photos were shot with iPhone of the same individual in rapid succession.
Appears to be wiping mud off the bill. Note mud still on bill in second photo.

Whinny. I also heard the Kew call repeatedly. American coot calling, too.
Easily confused with Ruby-crowned kinglet, but this HUVI has grayish legs and feet, and a tiny hook on the the tip of the larger bill.
Young LABU. I mistook this bird at first glance for a young Lesser Goldfinch, because it was taking on a green hue while nibbling fresh grass in the shade of the pines. When it flew out into better lighting, the overall browns and grays and some of the subtle blue tones became apparent.
