Okay so this was hard to get a photo of, I had to hide behind a rock and wait for it to come out of hiding. It was approximately 150mm in length. Water temperature around 18 degrees. Same one I spotted yesterday...Thalassoma??
I'm leaning towards a Longfin Grouper, Epinephelus quoyanus. It was out in the open on a shallow reef (1m deep), then darted under coral.
50 metres deep. 20-30cm in length. This one has me stumped.
Hard to get a photo of as a lot of free floating weed in the water. Shallow water, along granite rock with algae and weed.
In the crevice of a rock, what I assume is a male with a smaller female.
Worse photo in history. It darted into the rocks and I couldn't spot it again. Open to suggestions but it looked like a Thalassoma, which I know would be pretty crazy.
Was very interesting to watch it turn from a white body with dark face to a dark pink/red.
