Growing from a decorticated log, possibly of Tsuga canadensis, adjacent to leaf litter. Clamps present in the lamellar trama. Pleurocystidia and cheilocystidia with guttules in Melzer’s reagent but lacking guttules in 1M KOH. Pleurocystidia hyaline and lageniform. Cheilocystidia also hyaline and lageniform, forming a sterile band. Cheilocystidia measurements: (49.6) 53.4 – 87 (96.7) × (9.1) 11.3 – 16.3 (16.9) µm, Q = 4.1 – 5.7 (6.2); N = 23, Me = 67.1 × 14 µm; Qe = 4.8. Basidia 4-sterigmate. Spores smooth and dark brown in 1M KOH. Spore measurements: (6) 6.7 – 7.5 (7.9) × (3.9) 4.1 – 4.6 (4.8) µm, Q = 1.5 – 1.8 (1.9); N = 30, Me = 7.1 × 4.4 µm; Qe = 1.6
Found it on debris inside a deciduous forest.
Single mushroom growing near a dead hardwood tree. There was also a cluster of much older, decomposing mushrooms that may or may not have been the same species a couple of feet away.
