Dark green dentate leaves. Some of the leaves have black spots.

Large tree growing in break in redwood canopy, 3-4 meters tall. Lower branches have developed foliage with more serrated edges as response to herbivory. Not flowering, but shows evidence of past fruiting. Growing in mix of rocky soil and detritus.

Plants sprout close together, forming a carpet. Heart shaped leaflets growing in threes.
Grows similar to a vine. Grows along forest floor and trunks of trees. Abundant in area.
