is it maybe too big eyed for a J-hare?
I thought at the time I was right in dismissing European Hare or Rabbit...but now i'm not so sure.
J-hare is a mountain species...this was not exactly that.
Medium sized cream white butterfly with minimal grey/black spot/s on each wing. Blackish grey body, long thin antennae with a bulbed tip. Found in dancing pairs around capeweed in public gardens.
Very small and young frog found skipping amongst damp leaf litter adjacent to a pond. Brown colouring with dark brown stripes running along the sides of the body from the eyes, which are gold yellow with diamond pupils. Toes are without discs, and the underbelly is cream white.
Specimen barely 1.5 cm in length.
Decent sized rodent-mammal found in an unusual open position next to a public fountain.
Body around 5-6 inches from snout to vent, tail roughly 6 inches or more. Strongly ringed tail in dark scales. Large black eyes, smallish pink ears and long hindfeet. Top coat is assorted grey and fawn brown with darker guard hairs. Bright white throat and underbelly.
Moved quickly in a scurrying motion.
Large huntsman spider waiting in ambush on a tree by a pond. Legspan around 3-4 inches in diameter, uniform greyish brown colour with four tiny spots on the abdomen, above a small black triangle.
Small feet and prominent coat of thick velvety hair.
