I will be uploading better photos to see if this idea is correct. It could've been a dead arrow orbweaver.
A small Orbweaver huddled up on the underside of my Cosmos. Never seen one like this before. A little smaller than my pinky nail. Yellow abdomen, legs were tucked in but looked black and yellow striped. Didn't move at all as I took the photos.
Likely ID given by M. Stowe but specimens were not collected for confirmation.
On Oak (173070857), sitting quietly on the underside of a leaf ~4' off the ground. Abdomen ~1/4" or so wide.
Not sure of the exact species of bolas spider but was excited to find my first after learning of them
