Just in the middle of the path. Really translucent shell and not the same as the garden snails.
Didn't touch so do not know if anyone was home :)
On a side track off the Whangakea Track.
Occasional, under coastal forest
Potentially over 200 plants, within wider grey scrub, frost flat habitat. Mostly on alluvial terraces and terrace risers growing with Oleria virgata, Coprosma propinqua and Dracophyllum subulatum. Plants very healthy, many with adult foliage and some also with seed, including some very large fully adult trees. Area has had TB vector possum control for 10-15 years.
Plant scattered in swamp scrub, mainly on margins. Plants with large amounts of immature capsules.
Rare on swampy terrace. Have been wanting to see this plant for over 10 years in the wild!
Growing on margins of scrub with Phyllocladus alpinus
There is something not right about these flowers
