Ternately decompound basal leaves; deeply lobed, serrate, acute leaves; astipulate, stem~ 35cm, flowers in a panicle, superior ovary, 2 sepals fused, 4 petals, 6 fused stamens, bilateral symmetry, free central placentation.
Every year the grey squirrels plant hundreds of black and white oak acorns in my nice soft garden beds, and every spring I get to dig up most of the seedlings. Trying to keep woody plants a respectable distance from the house.
Found more closely around the conifer trees, in partial to full shady locations.
