Species continues to spread. I first recorded in River Thames riverbed in Teddington at high density in 2004 but likely to have been in the Thames since 2000. At that time, it was rare downstream in brackish, but now throughout Chiswick (see Elliott, Paul, & Zu Ermgassen, Philine S.E. (2008).
