Lovely feathery leaves with leaflets distinctly larger than those of gulmohar (Delonix regia) or copperpod (Peltophorum pterocarpum).
Old twisted fruit pods on the ground, along with a scattering of fire engine red seeds.
Gorgeous, 2–3-pinnate delicate leaves. No yummy drumstick pods visible.
Pinnate leaves, alternately arranged. Note the pinkish, very limp young leaves (Saraca asoka, the sita-ashok, does this too).
Thick clusters of unripe fruits. Fruits are not always easily noticed on this species.
Tall and robust gum tree, most likely planted many decades ago, along the Bonnie Cove East trail, in the South Hills range, Glendora, CA. Trunk very wide (large diameter at breast height). Leaves markedly darker green on upper/adaxial surface, and distinctively olive green above/adaxially, as well. Leaves with only a weak aroma when crushed. I checked below the tree for the characteristic fruits of Eucalyptus cladocalyx, but I didn't find any fruits, unfortunately. Coin used for scale is a US quarter dollar (¢25 piece), 24.26 mm, 0.955 inch in diameter. Bonus points if you can find the coin in photo # 3.
