Bracken fern unfurling new fronds
I'm guessing on this one. I've seen others in this area that look like the Spring Azure. There are trailing blackberries and broad leaf maple trees in the area.
This was in a park near a tennis court.
At least a dozen of these puddling at the entrance to a logging road off Hwy 23 N. My theory as to why they're puddling here: many snowmobilers park here in the winter, and I suspect many take a leak before setting off on their adventures... and butterflies do like to pull nutrients out of urine!
