Leaning towards L. variolus based on dorsal abdominal pattern and habitat choice... found several females always in native brush in elevated webs spun between tree branches ~4-6' off the ground, never found any around human structures, despite the abundance of both the spiders in question and old buildings (similar to the L. variolus I've observed in Kentucky and southern Ohio, but unlike the L. mactans I've observed in KY and NC).
