I uploaded this photo because it shows the pair of nesting black-necked stilts coexisting with the much larger great egret and Canada geese temporarily occupying the stilts' island. Did the parents other birds are so big? (A little later, egret and geese left on their own; egret has used this location for years.) The stilts drive off snowy egrets and other birds somewhat larger than themselves. See June 20 observation for more on the stilts.
