59 butterfly species in 5 weeks!

I’ve just returned from a 5 week road trip from Adelaide to Cairns, during which I was lucky enough to make observations of many butterfly species (as well as other taxa)! Prior to the trip I had observed 39 butterfly species on iNaturalist (mostly in SA, Vic, NSW) but during the road trip I added observations of 63 species, of which 51 were new species to my iNaturalist list! The variety in northern Queensland is absolutely amazing.

I just wanted to say thanks to you for all the identifications you have made of my observations during my trip – so helpful! Often id's were made before I had sat down to see what I could figure out myself!

Hi all,

iNaturalist list you among the top identifiers of observations I have made during 2020. I wanted to say thanks!

Spending time on iNat has been a great antidote to some of the challenging times we've all had to deal with in 2020. Having knowledgeable people like yourselves take time to identify my obs helps me learn and enjoy!

I hope you have a great 2021 with lots more iNatting!

regards
David
