First Orchid of the Season

Hi All, first orchid of the season, yah it's Rattlesnake Plantain but it is an orchid and a start.
Found on Tin Cup Creek near my place here in Darby MT. No Fairy Slipper's yet just a matter of hitting
trail. This weekend for sure will find some.
I'm headed to the Oregon Coast next week I should have about 4 days of plant photography at Sunset Beach and South Slough maybe get up the South Fork of the Coquille River. Hopfully orchids will be out and great picture will be had.

Visit the Site

Hi All, went and checked out one of the possible Blitz sites on Lost Horse Creek yesterday. Things are just starting to get going, but spring is showing it self for sure. Seen Western Red Cedar and Pacific Yew old friends from when I lived in Oregon. It looks like a good area to Blitz.
Next month would be the best time to Blitz, creek could still be high but more plants will be seen. Large animals could be there such as Moose, Black bear, Grizzly bears and Mountian Lions so we need to be heads up. Stay Tuned

Oregon Trip

Hi All, made it to Oregon for Moms Bday. A lot of plants flowering and everything is so so green and lush, I got a lot of good pictures, but no orchids. I think I was in between the Fairy Slipper Bloom and other orchid species. I did find one Fairy Slipper along the Mckenzie River on the way home. Maybe another trip later. But now I'm going to work on getting up to Swan Lake area soon.
