Boston College Pine Tree Preserve

Earlier today I took a stroll the the Boston Pine Tree preserve with the gaol of observing a variety of wildlife and biodiversity, and my goals were met with flying colors. Upon arriving at the preserve I was taken aback by the size and structure of the many pines trees, but what was even more interesting were the findings more at my eye level! I saw many luminous and colorful flowers including clovers, sunflower, viburnums. These only scratch the surface when discussing the abundance and variety of flowers found in the preserve. No wonder I ran into an art class sketching and coloring flowers during my walk. The flowers are extremely detailed and some details can only be observed from very close distances. Along with the many flowers, I also found lots of different types of fungi nestled into the ground of the preserve. I observed the brittle-gills fungi and many of its fungi friends. What amazed me most about my visit to the preserve was the abundance of wildlife, I found a ground Yellowjacket on a leaf and quickly snapped a photo. Upon turning 180 degrees I saw another bee pollinating a flower, but I unfortunately missed the opportunity to catch the moment on camera. I also saw 2 squirrels mating with each other through the use of obscure tail movements while they chased each other up and down trees. My first nature walk around the Boston College Pine Preserve was most definitely a successful journey and I am curious as to where I adventure next and what I will find.
