Fotos / SonidosQuéCabrachito Espinoso (Taurulus bubalis)Observ.oscar_wainwrightDescripciónCaught on a surprising large metal jig. Surprised to see this species take a metal lure, I assume it must have taken it fairly near the shore as the lure passed near the bottom. Caught by @finley_dennison |

Fotos / SonidosQuéMaragota (Labrus bergylta)Observ.oscar_wainwrightDescripciónOne of the most brightly coloured ballan's I've ever caught! Note the fluorescent blue spots on the cheek and right pelvic fin, which appears to have split and since healed with a new membrane reconnecting the break. Gut also enormous and bulging - potentially with spawn or perhaps engorged on food. Caught in a deep gulley/ inlet that probably provides shelter and feeding opportunities for fish where large waves are crashing onshore just a short distance away. Sandeel shoal also seen in this inlet. |
