Looks like another siskin died, one that the dogs didn't bring into the house. Presumably dead of some combination of Salmonella and Cooper's Hawk.

First dead siskin of the year, but doubtless not the last. Up on a beam over the patio. I suspect I could duplicate this and post it for Salmonella, but I'm not going to.

Although this siskin has obviously been chewed, I suspect it died of Salmonella and was chewed on by our dog.

Found dead. Earlier today, the dogs tracked in a siskin feather. I guess the Salmonella outbreak is back (or more accurately, never left).

Dead Pine Siskin #9 at my bird feeder. I'm just showing the tail because my dog thoroughly chewed the rest of this one. Cause of death appears to be the Salmonella outbreak.

Dead Pine Siskin #10 and 11 at my bird feeder. My little dog proudly brought both of them into the house in one mouthful. I don't think he was happy when I took them. Cause of death appears to be the Salmonella outbreak.

'Hoppy' was a regular visitor last year to the sugar-water feeder in our garden. (we assume 'he's' a male based on size). We've wondered what misfortune the poor bird had suffered, although he seemed in good health. We were super happy to see hoppy return again this spring, having survived winter, and still looking in great condition. Perching isn't easy, and he spends a lot of effort trying to keep balance on his one remaining foot. Despite the lack of a foot, hoppy is really feisty and able to defend its position in the local tui pecking order.
