I started studying plants in 1980. When I retired in 1995, I retread as an amateur botanist. In 1999 I became a PCV at New England Wild Flower Society. I had a lot of time, so I gave them a lot of time. In 2008 I moved to Marlborough MA. I did a Botanical Inventory of the Desert Natural Area in Marlborough and Sudbury MA between 2008 and 2011.
I have won awards from NEWFS, Sudbury Valley Trustees, the Friends of the Middlesex Fells and the New England Botanical Society. I was good, but I did less and less as I moved towards the end of my 70's. My plants came back to me this year as I started posting observations on iNaturalist. Aiming and shooting with my iPhone and punching a few buttons is something the old lady here can do. I only publish observations when I know the plant is what I say it is. I found a single plant, Sanicula marilandica near Nelson's Island MA. When I got home, I wasn't sure it hadn't been Geum canadense (I often can only the Latin name, not the common). I relocated the plant today. It was the Sanicula. I posted it. Great! Not an often found plant.
