I've enjoyed nature all my life, with a slight focus on plants since I was a kid. My professional carreer went in a different direction though (physics & software development).

In 2019, I read several of Dave Goulson's books, which turned me into an amateur insect enthusiast. I decided to take a more active part and became a participant of the "Tagfaltermonitoring" project of the UFZ, so I have to learn about butterflies quickly. I find it very surprising and enjoyable to discover at least one new species every week on my rather unspectacular transect.

I have to thank all iNaturalists who helped me so far with identifications or photos of their observations for comparisons.
