Leathery old semi-retired field naturalist. Managed a nature center for 25 years. Worked part-time for the State of New Jersey (Heritage Program) for three years. Formerly very active in the Philadelphia Botanical Club, the Torrey Botanical Society, and the Botanical Society of America N.E. Section. Led bird, botany, and general nature field trips of varying lengths in North America and abroad for those groups as well as the New Jersey Audubon Society, the Virginia Native Plant Society, the Long Island Botanical Society, etc. Did some wetland delineations, taught some classes, did some searches for endangered species, did multiple full-site plant inventories. Traveled extensively with family to natural places, mostly in North America. Co-authored book "Plant Communities of New Jersey" (Rutgers, 1994). Outside of New Jersey, favorite places for botanical study are Newfoundland (ten trips) and the South Carolina Low Country. In New Jersey, the Delaware Water Gap NRA, the Pine Barrens, and any highly-disturbed but overgrown vacant lot.
