Increasing chances for rain have brought many new species to the retention pond near our home. The night of June 10th, I counted over 20 frogs on the front porch. The Eastern Narrow-mouthed Toad was a new species in my book, it looked quite cartoonish plopping its way along. The frogs have attracted a lot of bird activity. Many Red-Shouldered Hawks are eyeing the waters, looking for prey to carry off in their talons. In one day, the Cattle Egret returned, the Great Heron, and two immature White Ibis, to prowl amongst the frogs. A Turkey Vulture stopped for a sip of water.
