3rd Annual Rutgers-Newark/NJIT BioBlitz Oct. 2, 2014
A bioblitz is a way to catalog all of the life in a certain area over a set time period. For the past 2 years, the Federated Dept. of Biological Sciences at Rutgers-Newark & NJIT has held a bioblitz to record all of the species that we see in a day, and we are continuing this tradition for our 3rd annual bioblitz. On Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014 from 8:00AM to 5:00PM, we want to count all species that can be observed on the Rutgers-Newark and NJIT campuses, including plants, mammals, insects and other invertebrates, birds, fungi, and others. Not only is this valuable ecological data, but it's a great way for you to get to know the life that you walk by everyday! Help us by taking photos of species that you see and submitting your observations to this iNaturalist project either through the website or the iNaturalist app. Observations of both identified and unidentified species will be accepted.
Happy hunting!
