Wildlife Night Tour tonight!!

A few slots are still available for tonight's wildlife night tour at Langston Golf Course. We will look in the water, the wetlands and the adjacent riparian forests (including a mothing station!!) to explore the river's biodiversity at night https://www.anacostiaws.org/event/559-wildlife-night-tour-in-the-anacostia-river.html

7th Anacostia River Bioblitz preliminary numbers

Hi all!

The 7th Anacostia River Bioblitz has already a record number of observations (3064 observations!) since we started the #AnacostiaBioblitz in 2017. The same is true for the number of species = 934 species observed during the weekend! Also record numbers of species observed in the Arachnid department with 36 species observed, and 297 insect species observed!

Kudos to SERC!

AWS would like to thank the fisheries crew at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (SERC) @sercfisheries for doing another electrofishing survey (Friday) in the Anacostia River for a third bioblitz year in a row!! 7th Anacostia River Bioblitz

What a great weekend of community science and outdoor fun with the 7th #AnacostiaBioblitz! So far a record number of insect observations with 254 species of insects observed (so far).
