Oh amazing, Papilios have always generated debate about their phylogeny, every time they are included and excluded at the species level with grounds. This time Condamine et al. went a step further to understand it, the molecular analyses are quite solid. I would like to read the article you mention where P. victorinus is considered at species level.
It is necessary to include this subspecies from western Mexico, it is interesting because an article was recently published in Mexico about this subspecies where they cataloged it again as another species, very different from the P. victorinus that the article you added talks about, the same article mentions that the species P. victorinus is distributed further south in Central America, giving way to the species from Mexico being mentioned.
