The underside of the leaves have faint black dots. Fruit is a fleshy, red berry. This plant is found in large groups (i.e. many of the same species in the area, many connected to one another through common root system).
The abaxial surface of the leaves and the stem are markedly pubescent. The base of the leaves are minorly clasping.
This specimen was found in an overgrown mesic field.
The plant species is an erect shrub (woody stem ~0.4m in height). Leaves are simple, entire, with a green leathery texture (coriaceous).
