Doesn't have normal "scales" with texture on the cap. These are very flat, almost like a "texture" or "print" of scales. Growing out of a downed hardwood tree. Stipe is somewhat confusing, as looking close, not sure their are true "scales" there, either. The stipe almost looks like it is old and "shedding" in patches.
Found on rotting hardwood logs. Nice blue staining on a few. Late July after rain and a cooldown.
