My book says dodecatheon pulchellum. Few-flowered Shooting Star.
Parked in parking lot directly in front of gravel road leading from entrance. There is a snow beaten trail that walks along the shoreline, about 300 or so feet in is where the wren was spotted. I had stopped because I heard something, and turned my head towards the lake, and the wren had jumped out into a branch right then! I then turned, and snapped some shots of him, he stayed put for a good 10-15 seconds, before flirting onto a log that was frozen in the lake. He was in the thick brush right there along the shoreline. He seemed to be very out going for a bewicks, but did not chirp a sound. We had two dogs with us, and it seemed to stay put. Very fast flick moves, did not flit tail nearly as often as pacific, just a few flicks here and there.
UPDATE: This was the 13th sighting of a Bewicks Wren in Montana State, and the second sighting of a Bewick's on the east side of the continental divide.
