Zelda and I walked, but our walking buddies couldn't come. So we walked the edge of the creek and looked for little things. Big prize was Purple Leatherflower with LOADS of seeds (gotta wait for them to dry). We saw the park in a different way and scoped out some trails we may need to try. I saved a few seeds. It's okay - plenty were left for the next guy.
The herons re-positioned themselves on the creek. There are usually three here. I believe I saw all three, however I am only certain of the markings on one (looks like it has a wing injury) so I am not certain. I am posting all four observations (over a period of 2 hours and in different sections of the creek). This is the one with marks on the upper part of the wing. I have seen it fishing at under the Penelope Street Bridge about 1/8 to 1/4 of a mile downstream from here.

One of 3 or 4 observed on the creek. This one was skittish and fled before we got very close.
I was so excited to see what I thought might be something new. Then I realized what it was...tievine flower damaged by the weather. :-/
One of few insects seen until it started warming up today. I saw a half dozen of these near the creek.
Leaves turn a lovely purple/green. Who knew?
Still growing and blooming in about 4 spots in the park.
Saved some seed. Then got home and found seeds stuck to my fleece as well.
